Moree is located in north western New South Wales and is famous for its natural artesian spas. There is so much to see and do. Here are just a few suggestions...
Things to see & do
- Moree Hot Mineral Baths - Some 50,000 visitors flock to Moree every year for therapy at the hot mineral baths. They are a great place to relieve those aching muscles and arthritic pains. There are also baths at the nearby town of Boomi.
- Moree Plains Gallery - Established in 1988, the Gallery houses an important collection of contemporary Aboriginal arts and artefacts.
- Trawalla Pecan Nut Farm - The largest pecan nut farm in the Southern Hemisphere. Access is available by tour only.
- The Big Plane - An old DC3 originally used in combat in World War 2.
- Historic Cemetery - Houses the graves of Edward Bulwer Lytton Dickens (youngest son of Charles Dickens) and Mary Brand, the first white female settler in Moree.
- Dunavant Cotton Gin - One of the largest cotton gins in Australia, open for inspection during the ginning season.
- Take a tour of the opal mines of Lightning Ridge
- Tareelaroi Weir - A great spot for picnics and a range of water sports.
- Walking Tours - Take a tour of Moree including the Barry Roberts Memorial Walk.
